We got used to be served by stewardesses in planes, conductors in trains, stewards on board of the ship. Some transporting bus companies start to introduce the new profession of stewards for buses to make the trip of the passenger more comfortable and not to distract the driver from driving a car.
People of this profession suffer a lot.
Stewards and stewardesses in planes have to know several languages especially if they work on board of the plane that makes international flights. Stewards and stewardesses have to be very polite with passengers helping them if they have some problems and keeping the order in the salon of the plane. If something is wrong with the plane or the flight is going not so good, or if there is an emergency situation, a steward/stewardess has to calm people down.
Before the flight stewards verify tickets of the passengers and help them to find their seats in the plane. Before the plane takes off, stewards and stewardesses tell the safety regulations, shows how to put on oxygen masks and show where the exist is. They are also waitresses during the flight.
Almost the same duties have stewards and stewardesses in trains and ships. Their main duty is to help people and to serve them during the trip, flight, and voyage.
This work demands a lot of time and efforts. They have to spend weeks without seeing their families and children. They prefer their work to celebrating holidays at home. And they don't worry about the only place of living as they always travel.
Acclimatization is a serious problem of those who travel at long distances. It causes serious disorders in health and mood.
But at the same time stewards/stewardesses have the possibility to see far-away countries and to communicate with foreign people. They have the possibility to admire the landscapes and the benefits of such work.
Drivers, pilots, locomotive drivers, captains have the same problems, but at the same time they have much more important responsibility as they have to get alive and healthy passengers to the destination place.
That is why people have to study a lot and to practice a lot until they are well-experienced to travel without any support and help. Sometimes captains have to take difficult decisions. Sometimes ships, cars, buses, etc, get into the accidents because of unreasonable actions of the driver, captain, pilot, etc.
So every driver should remember that he has the most precious cargo on board of his/her engine – lives of people.
There are also people who don't travel on board of different means of transport but who make the travels possible, they are mechanics. They fix cars, planes, trains, etc if something is wrong. And their work is very important as if they made some mistake, it may cost people's lives.
So, people of these professions should be treated with respect. According to some researches the work of the driver is the most nervous. And the salary of people of these professions should correspond to the duties they have and must be worth efforts people take.
