Water transport

According to myths our planet was created with the help of water. And fishes were the first alive creatures of our planet. Human beings are not adapted to the sea-life, they were created for walking.
But people learned to swim and not to sink in the sea. But a person can't swim across the ocean as he/she will get tired and will simply sink. So, people had to search for new ways of crossing the ocean.
In fact, water transport is the most ancient means of transport. And it was the most important means of transport till the appearance of first railways. Even the smallest sailing boat went the distance four and five times faster than caravans. It could carry much cargo and it needed little money.
But till nowadays it plays an important role in the life of people. This transport involves 60%-70% of all freight turnover of the world. It usually carries goods that don't demand fast transportation. It is connected with high competition of car transporting. The main cargo is oil, coal, gas and ore.
But water transport is also very popular among passengers. A good voyage costs a lot of money. People spend their holidays in cruises, and spend time really good there.
Water transport contains a great number of different kinds of ships, boats and water-liners. Cutters are very important during fishing.
Sailors discovered continents and islands thanks to sailing and water transport. Luxurious yachts are the main transport for rich people, who boast them. Water transport is also used to carry cars across the oceans.
But at the same time, water transport may be very dangerous. There are a lot of stories about great catastrophes that happened with ships. A lot of ships sank in the Bermuda Triangle that is considered to be the cursed place in the Atlantic Ocean.
Another reason that stops people from sailing and using this transport is a seasick. There are a lot of people who suffer from it. And sometimes they feel so bad that they can't wait until they disembark.
Storms can become really risky and dangerous as they may damage the ship. A catastrophe that happened with the "Titanic" is known all over the world. Thousands of people died in this catastrophe.
The roll may make sick even those people who don't suffer from the seasick. Even sailors who spend a lot of time on board the ship suffer from it. Another problem is the profession of a sailor. The problem is that this job demands a lot of time. Sailors have to spend months and years far away from their families.
But who haven't dreamed to become a captain.
Another problem is the meeting with pirates. People mistake thinking that there are no pirates any more. In ancient times pirates attacked ships robbing them. Nowadays pirates attack ships taking hostages and demanding to pay a great sum of money for them. The latest case of kidnapping people by pirates is the capturing of the watercraft "Faina".
So, as you sea voyage may be as good as bad.
