Public transport

The public transport was very popular in the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th century. But from the middle of 20th century it lost its significance as personal means of transport became popular, as they have become available to many people. Some cities stopped using trams.
Personal automobile is much more comfortable as it needs less time to take you to the place you need sitting in a comfortable compartment.
There are several points of view on the role of public transport in the modern world:
- According to some people, public transport should be removed completely from the streets of the cities. And all people should have their personal automobile. That will allow to decrease the number of traffic jam and to solve the problem of parking. But this idea is good only in theory. In practice it will need a lot of money for introducing, and it will increase the number of traffic jams and not decrease, as instead of one bus that can transmit 40 people, 40 cars will appear. So people will have to build new roads and highways and it also costs money.
- According to another point of view, people should refuse from using personal cars. And again people suppose to solve the main problems with its help. But public transport can't offer people the same level of comfortableness and mobility.
- And according to the third point of view, the number of cars and public transport should be regulated. And if the number of personal cars can't be regulated properly, than the public transport should be controlled.
If a person has no car, public transport is the only transport he/she may use. Besides you never know who is going to occupy the seat next to you.
